BMW M Motorsport enjoyed a highly successful weekend at the Lausitzring, collecting valuable points in the DTM championship, celebrating a winning debut for the new BMW M2 Cup, and securing victories in both ADAC GT Masters races.
While Schubert Motorsport continued its title challenge in the DTM with solid top-ten finishes, BMW also dominated the inaugural BMW M2 Cup event and achieved a perfect weekend in the ADAC GT Masters with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
Schubert Motorsport Maintains DTM Momentum
The third round of the 2026 DTM season proved challenging but rewarding for Schubert Motorsport. Marco Wittmann, driving the #11 Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3 EVO, finished fifth in Saturday’s race and eighth on Sunday, collecting important championship points despite difficult qualifying sessions.
Saturday’s race saw Wittmann produce one of the standout performances of the weekend. Starting from 18th on the grid after a rain-affected qualifying session, the German driver made a strategic gamble by switching to slick tyres on a drying track. The decision paid off as he charged through the field to finish fifth.
His teammate Kelvin van der Linde also delivered consistent performances, finishing tenth and ninth in the two races aboard the #3 Shell BMW M4 GT3 EVO. The South African gained several positions during both contests despite struggling to match the pace shown at previous events.
Following the Lausitzring weekend, Wittmann sits fourth in the drivers’ championship standings with 71 points, while van der Linde occupies eighth place with 54 points.
Thanks to four top-ten finishes, Schubert Motorsport now leads the DTM team standings with 119 points heading into the next round at the Norisring.

BMW M2 Cup Launches with Double Victory for Michael Schrey
The Lausitzring also marked the official debut of the BMW M2 Cup as part of the DTM support programme, and it was veteran BMW racer Michael Schrey who stole the spotlight.
Driving the #2 BMW M2 Racing entered by Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport, Schrey converted pole position into two commanding victories across the weekend, becoming the first driver to win races in the new one-make championship.
Behind him, a new generation of drivers showcased their talent. On Saturday, Moritz Groneck finished second ahead of Niklas Hirsch, while Sunday’s podium was completed by Christopher Holst and Tatu Siipola.
The BMW M2 Cup season will continue with races at the Norisring, Nürburgring, Sachsenring and Hockenheimring.
BMW Dominates ADAC GT Masters
BMW M Motorsport also celebrated a perfect weekend in the ADAC GT Masters, where the BMW M4 GT3 EVO claimed victory in both races.
Saturday’s race delivered a milestone moment for brothers Juliano and Sandro Holzem, who secured their first-ever ADAC GT Masters victory with Schubert Motorsport’s #56 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
Completing a BMW one-two finish were Leyton Fourie and Tim Zimmermann in the #11 BMW M4 GT3 EVO entered by FK Performance Motorsport.
The German-South African pairing went one step further on Sunday, taking victory and moving into the lead of the drivers’ championship standings. FK Performance Motorsport also emerged from the weekend leading the team standings at the halfway point of the season.

BMW M Motorsport Looking Ahead
Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport, praised the team’s overall performance throughout the weekend.
The BMW executive highlighted the strong strategic work in the DTM, the double success in the ADAC GT Masters and the impressive launch of the BMW M2 Cup, describing the debut season of the new championship as highly promising.
With momentum building across multiple championships, BMW M Motorsport now turns its attention to the Norisring, where Schubert Motorsport will look to continue its DTM title challenge and BMW’s customer racing programmes aim to build on a highly successful weekend at Lausitzring.
